Unprecedented Surge: Shaping Qatar’s Tourism Landscape with Estithmar Holding's Properties Amid Exciting Major Events

Following a remarkable recovery from the pandemic, Qatar has made an astonishing tourism comeback. June 2023 marked a milestone as in-bound international arrivals soared to two million, an astounding 183% increase compared to the same period in 2022. The data, extracted from the Qatar Tourism Dashboard, indicates that the majority of the visitors hailed from the GCC region, contributing to 38% of the influx, with 26% from KSA, 11% from India, and 8% each from Germany and the UK. The US also made a notable contribution with 4% of the international arrivals.

As the nation anticipates further surge with the onset of the season in October 2023, we look forward to welcoming the world for a series of major events that promise to enhance Qatar’s tourism profile.

The post-World Cup era has spurred exponential growth in Qatar’s tourism industry. Philip Dickinson, Qatar Tourism's Vice President for International Markets, recently lauded the tournament's success in an article featured on the Daily Travel Media platform. He emphasized how the World Cup had created an array of unforgettable experiences for fans both on and off the pitch. The compact nature of the event, he noted, had made it possible for spectators to enjoy multiple matches in a single day. India was second only to Saudi Arabia in terms of tournament attendance, thereby bolstering their representation within our international arrivals.

At the heart of this transformative journey stands Estithmar Holding, a central figure in driving the progress of Qatar's flourishing tourism industry. We were instrumental in the launch of new tourist attractions in 2022, including Al Maha Island and Winter Wonderland. These venues were unveiled in time for the successful FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, significantly amplifying Qatar's appeal as a premier travel destination.

Estithmar Holding's Group CEO, Henrik Christiansen, shared, "We are proud to have made a substantial contribution in crafting the luxurious lifestyle and exceptional entertainment landscape in Qatar. As we brace for 2023 and 2024, we look forward to welcoming visitors from around the globe, especially in anticipation of the upcoming 2023 Formula 1 Grand Prix and 2023 MotoGP Grand Prix."

Notably, Al Maha Island, acclaimed for its world-class dining and leisure destinations, is predicted to attract an impressive 500,000 visitors each month during the forthcoming season (2023-2024). Likewise, Winter Wonderland is projected to enchant half a million visitors from November 2023 to March 2024. The influx of visitors promises a prosperous tourism industry, fostering a vibrant atmosphere and growing the local private sector.

The hotels under Estithmar Holding's portfolio, including Maysan LXR by Hilton and Katara Hills, continue to be successful, providing luxurious experiences that guarantee high occupancy rates year-round. “We are excited to report that these hotels are already pre-booked by groups and VIPs eager to witness the upcoming exciting season” confirmed Henrik Christiansen.

With the upcoming touristic season and major events on the horizon, Estithmar Holding reaffirms its commitment to Qatar's vibrant tourism sector. Striving to create an unparalleled experience for guests from around the world offering them a memorable journey in this dynamic country.
